I'd like to hear about anyone's experience with Luvox, including effectiveness, side effects encountered, dosing, difficulty in ending use, cost (out-of-pocket $US), etc.
Answer:
Took it, 50mg 5 weeks. My depression and anxiety got worse during that period. It was good as far a side effects go--much better wrt the sexual side effects than the other SSRIs. I ended it abruptly, and it wasn't bad at all--basically felt like I was hung over for three or four days after. Ibuprofin took care of most of that. Your depression and anxiety got worse? This same thing happens to me with most antidepressants, I don't know why, and the first drug I ever took Paxil, made me feel great until it pooped out after 6 months, after this antidepressants just started to make me feel worse, like extreme agitation and extreme clouding of the mind to the point of more depression. Not too many people talk about this happening. Do all antidepressants worsen you or was it just Luvox, have you gotten anything else to work? I have read in a couple of places that this reaction has bipolar "features", but I tried taking lithium alone and in combination with Paxil and it didn't help. I do to, after I stop it I feel better for a few days and then I go back to my normal chronic depression. It's tough to get doctors to believe you when you tell them your reacting in these ways. If you ever get suicidally depressed I would recommend you try an SSRI again because it helped me when I was suicidally depressed. I really think that in my case the SSRI works with the brain in a state of suicidal depression but not with a state of moderate chronic depression like I have now. If I were to become suicidally depressed again I'm sure I would feel great again if I took an SSRI only to probably relapse after 6 months again like I did the first time. I had never taken an SSRI before I was suicidal, and I used to be chronically depressed too before this, I am sure an SSRI would not have helped then either had I taken one. Since your case is so similar it might be the same for you.
