Question:
Are there rough guides for herbal equivalents to prescription antidepressants? Say, if you're on 100mg of Zoloft a day, would a combination of St. John's Wort and Kava Kava produce a similar result? (I know you shouldn't just do this on your own, and I do plan on consulting a homeopath doctor; just seeing what was out there)

Answer:
I tried both SJW and KK, separately and combined, but never experienced anything. Prozac, Effexor, Elevil, and Zoloft didn't do anything either, guess it doesn't matter if it's herbal or chemical -- it'll either work or it wont... I've been on each a.d so many times..I have their side-efects memorized!!! Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox make me just plain tired, sick, miserable. Prozac makes me REALLY hypo-manic...then crash into deep depression. Effexor does sort of the same, except makes me REALLY angry/hostile, and then majorly tired. Manorex made me just miserable. Nefazedone made me just plain tired..and then sick again..(ie. sore throat..cold..flu...) All of the trycyclics have done most OR all of the above mentioned. Isn't it amazing about how much you hear about these drugs NOT working then actually doing all good??? Makes me even more depressed.... Kava Kava I take in size '00' capsules, two at a time. Be careful asking for help in growing this herb. This is a sacred herb for some islanders. I don't really associate the Kava Kava with depression, but then if some do, I am here to learn. DHEA helped, and yoga breathing.
