Work Light - Antidepresants: Does It Work?

Question:
It usually takes antidepressants 6-8 weeks to work before you'll notice a change. Another thing is that you are usually started on the lowest dose, and gradually it is upped. Sometimes it may take a few months. There is no quick fix. Perhaps you need to give them a little longer to start working. Two weeks is not nearly long enough for most people.

Answer:
I?m depressed now and i have been a dysthymic all my life. I was put in Prozac during 4 weeks, and nothing ocurr, then I was put in Nefazodone for 3 weeks, and nothing ocurr, in Citalopran 2 weeks, nothing, now I?m in Effexor, I have heard great things about depression, and I had hope they work for me, only marihuana help me. There is someone in my situation? Please I need advices and letters that support me and explain how it work, what do you feel when it work, or what can i do. The minimum trial for any AD (unless side effect force a halt sooner) is 4-6 wks. And then you raise the dose to see if you're just below your personal effective doseage, not switch to another drug! Not all ADs work on all people - but it may be that you didn't give the drugs a long enough trial or a high enough dose. I agree with all that has been said. 608 week or even more to find the right dose. Prozac did not work for me due to side effects, but ZOLOFT has been the light at the end of the tunnel (for me). I had to start with baby steps since I am very sensitive to medications, thus it took me more than 6 weeks to find the right dose, but within 6 weeks I knew ZOLOFT was helping me.

Discuss It!
