Weight Lose - Wheel Of Medications--try Another Or Quit??

Question:
Going to see my psych. this week and I will have the chance to try yet another anti-depressant. Oh boy. I have been doing this for six years. Is it possible to go six years and not stumble onto a good antidepressant? I doubt it, and I believe I should stop, and here's why.

Answer:
You might want to consider Wellbutrin-SR, also marketed as Zyban for smoking cessation. A high percentage of people who take it lose 5 pounds or more. If you have lack of energy, it's also often referred to as a stimulant-antidepressant. I started it a week ago and haven't noticed anything yet, I'm used to that though as this is the 4th I've tried. I am a 37 year old female who has only taken approxiamtely 3 kinds of meds. Paxil, Serzone and now effexor. I also take zyprexa and I am thinking about not taking them because of weight gain. From August till now I have put on 44 pounds. This is the most weight I have ever weighed including when I was pregnant. Please has anyone had weight loss on any meds. I lost a lot of weight on both Zoloft and Wellbutrin because both made me extremely nauseous and unable to eat more than a few bites a day. Neither med had lasting anti-depressant effects on me, but I felt great with all the weight I lost. If you're lucky, maybe one of these ad's will help you lose weight AND have a lasting effect.
