Question: How expensive it is to get a script where you are. Just can't believe it. No I really DO believe it} In Australia I pay $3.20. per script. The gov. does pay part of the cost but still its unbelievable isn't it.
Answer: If Victoria had the prescription for the pharmacy--and the HMO--it would be less. Most HMO costs for prescriptions range between $5 and $20.00 per prescription. The issue is the HMO will not allow a refill prior to the time the prescription was supposed to run out. I had a similar problem when I called my doctor and she increased a prescription once and I tried to refill it early--and they told me the HMO would deny it. I called my physician and explained the situation and they called in a new prescription. However, losing the prescription, can be a problem--because sometimes the doctors are cautious--and justifiably. If someone did not really lose the prescription--and takes it somewhere else to get it filled--they could have more medication than they need--and when depression and suicidal thoughts are present the physician HAS to be careful--for the good of the patient. I've only just read your message but I was wondering where you live. Meaning State//Country etc. This afternoon I phoned in to get my script and I couldn't find it so the chemist looked up their computer and issued me with repeat script. They are all linked up as far as I know so they know how many repeats you have left. Thank god for that. I only had 1 tablet left so I was really relieved. Within 2 hours they delivered my meds.
