Question:
Anybody taking Venlafaxine HCl Effexor? XR? If so, what are the possible side effects, results, etc? I'd like to get some actual information from somebody who's taking it.

I've been on Effexor for about 2 and a half months after a bad down swing. Side effects I had were weird dreams and some extra sweating, but other than that no biggie. Took it about 8 weeks for it to "kick in", so I'm just now starting to enjoy all the things I didn't want to live for a few months ago. A good med, IMHO. I took it for two months... first 37.5 then 75... then 150..... all I can say is... I am glad I am of of it..... side effects ranged from major headaches ... to sexual dysfunction.... to actually getting pulled for drunk driving and I don't drink....coming down from the meds was god awful...... ! I had the worse withdrawal..... if I were a violent person I would have killed someone... as it was i was so nasty and mean and I had killing feelings.... it was scary.... Yes, I have been on 75mg of Effexor each morn, 37.5 ea night for some time now. I certainly am better. Few side effects. Clearer thinking, much clearer than when I was using Wellbutrin or Zoloft. Ritalin for ADD wore off after 9 months or so. I'm now using Cylert with lesser result. Maybe back to Ritalin sometime. The only undesireable side effect was its ability to create "sternness", or a difficulty to smile or laugh. ????
