Question: I am a woman weighing about 115 lbs. I need only half a tablet of ibuprofen for relief from, for example, headache (and it knocks me out solidly when I go to sleep at night). I rarely drink alcohol, but when I do, a half-glass of wine has quite an effect. Otherwise, I take nothing more than vitamins.
Answer: I'm just beginning to take SJW myself, and although I weigh very little myself, I'm taking the reccomended dose. SJW *isn't*, repeat *is not* intended for chronic depression according to all of the FAQs I read about it before I begun. For your reading pleasure, I've copied an entire FAQ (sorry to the rest of the group for this) which may prove helpful. i take that dosage of st johns wort(300mg 3 times a day). i am a bbw of 200 lbs and that dosage suits me fine. i really don't think weight is an issue on the dosage i think it's your mental state. and my sex drive has been terrific since taking the herb(3 months) and watching my diet. i like it much better than taking my old aniquated prescription for doxepin! Actually, the research suggests that for the average person, one or two of those 300 mg pills/day may be comparable in effect to three or more (_nine_ a day was the dosage for severe major depression in a recent trial where SJW equalled imipramine @ 150 mg/day). The moral is: 3 a day is not carved in stone; your mileage may vary; feel free to see if a low dosage works for you. Indeed, I've heard of people who responded better to a low dosage than a higher one: thus, there may be a "therapeutic window" for SJW.
