Also to those people who want to know. The side effects that i have gotten include lack of libido which for me i thought would never happen, and also a kind of block on any kind of down thoughts what so ever, almost makes me feel like i cant think straight. I never realized how much the depression was part of my brooding nature. I miss some parts of it. Am i alone in feeling this way?
Answer:
Just a couple of quick thoughts - first, what about COBRA? You should be able to continue your health care coverage by paying the premiums yourself. Not ideal, but better than having no coverage at all. Second, make sure you tell your doctor. It is not a good idea to go off Paxil unsupervised. Finally, if finances are the stumbling block, ask your doctor for some trial samples. Many doctors have a good supply of samples that they can simply give to you, free of charge. If you cannot afford the COBRA premiums, go to your County Mental Health office. Based on your income (even if it's zip), you may qualify for therapy as well as meds. Many times, over the past ten years or so, my wife was able to access county mental health services when we could not afford insurance. Also, you have 30 days coverage from the day you left officially left your job. My doctor arranged with the manufacturers, Smith Kline Beecham, for a package of their "Access to Care" certificates...your doc needs to tell them that you need the the Paxil but can't afford it (I don't have health insurance myself right now)...you take the certificate along with your prescription to your pharmacy and they hand over the goodies for free...I've been using the program for nearly a year. As for the libido problem...I've found that my sex life has actually got better, I guess it's easier for me to show interest in the opposite sex now that my self esteem and social skills have improved... ;-)
