Does anyone know anything about Atarax (also called Vistaril, or hydroxyzine)? My doc prescribed it to help with anxiety caused by Celexa. It is making me tired as hell. Its terrible. Does this effect go away with time?

Yes, I know it. Atarax is very bad for me. I NOT take it for that. My doc prescribed many years ago, it is a very old drug, but I was very tired also and always sleeping and groggy. Now there is more modern drugs for anxiety, like lorazepam, (in Spain comercial name is Orfidal) it was work very well for me. Now I don't take Orfidal because I haven't anxiety and only I am taking 20 mg of Celexa in the morning (in Spain Seropram or Prisdal). Celexa working very well for me and whihout side effects. Before, others SSRIs cancel my libido, Celexa NOT. I think you must to test many antidepressants, it working different form in every person. The good one for me is bad for you and the very well for you is bad for me... it happen frecuently. I think I have test all them, hi. using atarax to help alleviate agitation due to antidepressant therapy is remarkably inane. atarax used to be used for a wide range of problems - allergies, insomnia, postsurgical pain relief - that in the end it's really just a poor excuse for a knockout pill. a few wiser alternatives would be using buspar, klonopin, or a low dosage of an anti-anxiety agent, depending on the quality of the symptoms.
