I've been put back on paxil after being off for a year. I still have most of a prescription that was filled in 7/97. Does anyone out there know if it is still good/potent?
Answer:
Probably less effective according to my doc. Worst thing that can happen is that you won't get maximum benefit and then again you might - it's very much like outdated film - great pictures sometimes and light flare the next. Use what you have - I mean you'll have to renew it and you can't have that much because of the computer managed drugs. Bottom line - ask your doctor - he may even have some samples - most are willing to help out with meds when they can. This is excellent advice. Whenever I go to my psychiatrist, he always gives me a few sample packs to take home. My Paxil has an expiration date of one year. I don't recomment taking it if it is old. It might not work as well. It could maybe make you sick. I've seen OTC cold medicine go rancid.
