I have had major success with effexor in the past. I didn't notice the side effects and withdrawal problems that I have heard others talk about. Now my doc wants me to try celexa instead.
Answer:
Effexor was the BEST medication I have ever taken- I had to be taken off it due to priapisim, and am now taking Celexa, and can't stand it- have never had more back pain in my life- For what it's worth, I would go back on Effexor- I'm taking celexa but don't seem to be having any problems re: my back. I switched over from Prozac because I couldn't sleep which is apparently a long side effect of any SSRI but other than changing over I don't feel any different. My only thing that I remember is once or twice experiencing a bit of anxiety. I take a tranquillizer for that though. Good luck with your decision. I don't understand why these pdoc's want to change meds when something is working?? Effexor is reporting much more side effects that celexa . IMO stay with what worked! I stand by the side effects report, but also to go with what worked. Celexa, for the record, is closer to the Prozac family.
