Has anyone used naltrexone to augment their antidepressant? Typically it's been used to treat alcoholism, but some psychiatrists have begun to use it in treating depression. I just started today, adding 25mg naltrexone to 450 mg Wellbutrin. I would love to know someone else has used it to good effect.

Naltrexone has saved my life a hundred times over. I not only no longer drink and do drugs but, yes, I do believe it has helped to augment my anti-depressant regimen. I take it at night because it kind of knocks me right out. Also, for anyone trying to beat addictions, ask your pdoc about naltrexone. It can help you kick heroin! A very under-publicized medication. Yes I've read about this in various places on the web. It is also used to overcome "poop-out" when an antidepressant stops working. Let us know if it helped you or not. Also, if anyone would like to augment an antidepressant that isn't working or pooped-out it will be really hard to find a psychiatrist to prescribe this because as Enduro said it is very under-prescribed, a psychiatrist would only know that it is used to treat alcohol addiction, he would probably tell you "no way" if you asked him to use it. This is a problem, that's why I want to let anyone know who is interested in using this drug that they can obtain it from a foreign mail-order pharmacy, the following two places are the only ones that I know that carry it, if you e-mail them take out the words "spamisverybad" from the e-mail, also you might want to call or fax the first place instead as they sometimes take a long time to answer their e-mails.
