Have started taking effexor 37.5mg morning and night - 2 weeks now. Also take baclofen at night (for a couple of years to help relaxing leg muscles and for sleeping). Now I am having trouble sleeping - very restless and only a few hours of deep sleep a night. I have had knee surgery 6 weeks ago and take tylonal #1 (with codine) once during the day and a #3(more codine) at bedtime. Typical, not typical? What is good to take with effexor for the constipation? Can't see my doctor until next Tuesday - he is a GP but I am also getting counselling.
Answer:
When you see your doc, ask him if you can take your evening dose a little earlier. I used to take mine at 8 am and 7 pm, and I couldn't get to bed before 3. Now I take the second dose at 4 pm, and usually fall asleep around midnight. Ask a pharmacist, but you can probably take a little mineral oil without too much concern for drug interaction. As far as side effects go, I would try to ride them out for another week or two to give the medication time to start working. I've had the vomiting and cold sweat thing, too, and it really sucked, but I only had it a few times, and that was when I didn't have much (or any) food in my stomach, so make sure you always take it with food, and a healthy sized meal is best.
