I've given up. I pitched my Serzone. Fuck it. I'm just gonna tough it out. I stopped my meds a few days ago. Feel much better than I have in a year (since I began medication).
Answer:
I have tough it out for a long time and I can not say it is the right way. However some ideas I can give. 1) Saint John`s Warts 2) Eating habits 3) Vitamins 4) Acupuncture etc. On the net you can get information on many ways of fighting depression, I personally have found them, I wrote an essay on them and... I never finish doing these things because I am to depressed to continue. Maybe One day!. Maybe it is OK to quit medications, but if one does not keep fighting, the thing will finally catch you. I did much the same thing with my Paxil and Depakote earlier this year. I did taper off over a period of 2 -3 months though. I, too, felt better than when I was taking the meds. I then began SJW and 5-HTP which helped quite a bit until the days grew shorter. Now I'm on Zoloft, SJW and 5-HTP and it is working much better than to Paxil and Depakote. You probably feel better because the use of SSRI's cause a downregulation in the post synaptic receptors of some serotonin relays. You may not feel as good in a few days. I know how you feel. I decided to try that. Things were pretty good at first. Then the small things started creeping back in. I lost a little control each day. Then all the sudden things snowballed and I felt worse than when I started. Although this is a tiresome endless battle that will follow for a lifetime. DO NOT quit. There is a solution. Maybe this approach is not working. Try another one. If any of us quit, we can't convey our success stories to those who desparately need them.
