Question:
My wife is participating in a study for a relatively new drug called "Wellbutrin" (I think I have the spelling correct). The drug seemed to work very well and we were both excited. Now the drug study is in the 'double-blind' phase where some in the study group are getting a placebo. My wife's shift back to her 'normal behavior' per se, seemed to occur during the time the 'double-blind' portion of the study began. Has anyone had any experience with this drug? How do we know if she is getting a placebo, now, or if the drug just stopped working for her? Answers anyone????

Answer:
Or get off the study..... What about the depressive that doesn't get the proper medicine becomes depressed and kills themselves.... I wouldn't want to be someones guinia pig...... I've been on Wellbutrin for 1 and a half weeks and am more depressed than ever. I know its not supposed to start working for a few weeks but is this common? Also, I have no appetite and can't sleep one bit....any comments? Wellbutrin can take 4-6 weeks to work effectively. The first 2 weeks are generally the most difficult as the body adjusts to the medication. I'd suggest you consider when you are taking the medication. If I take my Wellbutrin after 6pm, it interferes with my sleep. If you are taking it twice a day, try taking your first dose upon rising, and then your second dose between 2-4pm. Also, you might want to talk to you doctor about taking half the dose you are currently taking, and build to the regular dose more slowly. My psych doctor always introduces new medications with very low amounts and builds very slowly. I have take Wellbutrin and it did wonders for me in the second and third weeks. After that I began to feel as though I was on speed. I did things so fast and efficiently that I don't even know how I did it. At first it seemed great, but then it began to bother me that I'd do a lot of things without even thinking about them. The most annoying problem of all, though, we with constipation. Do you have this problem, and if so, how do you cope with it?
