I have been taking effexor (37.5 mg, twice a day) for about a week now. What will i begin to feel to know that its working? My dosage doesnt seem to be that high compared to others, the doctor called it a started dose. Am i wasting my time with this little amount?

Definitely not wasting your time. I started on 37.5 twice a day in August. After 2 weeks, my wife had noticed a difference although I hadn't. After 8 weeks, things were definitely better in my eyes. I was able to cope with the pressures and stress that had triggered the downward spiral. Life is not rosy - but life is life. I still go through periodic 'down' times but they are short duration (1-3 days) and not as deep. I'm on Efexor and I started with 37.5 mg twice a day too. After a week my doc told me to increase to 75 mg twice a day. I think that's quite common. I am 44, female and have been taking effexor 75mg, extended release for a year and a half. Prior to this med I had been fighting depression and anxiety for 3 years. I finally got tired of being the way I was and went to see my GP. I no longer feel depressed and rarely have anxiety problems. It is great!!! I have had no side effects except nausea for the first week or two. It is very clear to me by reading the posts that different meds effect people in different ways. find what helps.... i've been on efexor for a month and i feel fine! sex, once a week i'am 49 yrs) and to be really honest, although they say it takes a week, i would say it took only 15 -30 mins to work .as soon as i took the first 37.5 tab i started to yawn!( not done that for a long time!) and i started to think clearly, memory improved, and began to " FEEL" again. No side effects ! this tab saved a divorce! -
