Question:
I am wondering, do every SSRI´s have this effect of increased self esteem and sociability etc..? I have only tried prozac so far and it works great. It is also the only one I heard of having these properties. I would guess all the SSRI´s have it because they all act in the same way, or do they all have different effects other than "just" lifting the depression?

Answer:
I can only comment on Prozac and Paxil and keep in mind it's anecdotal info from one guy. I found that Paxil worked better than Prozac for anxiety and social phobia, but some side effects are worse. I've not heard about the 17X factor and from my experience I don't think it's true. You sound like you're happy with the Prozac so I wouldn't change anything. Yes, the SSRI's DO differ quite a bit, and hence why you get so many different reactions to each one, depending on the "type" of depression you have. Here is a good article...it may take a few reads...but it is well researched and explains each of the SSRI's in detail.May want to print this for examination. I've read that paroxetine and fluoxetine have a rating of 800 and 120 respectively for binding to the serotonin reuptake receptors (can't remember where I saw it, as usual) although whether or not that makes paroxetine 7x more potent I've no idea.
