Any positive experiences with Effexor SR for panic and depression?

It's Effexor XR (extended release) - I'm on it. It was just released in Canada 2 months ago. I actually tried 'plain' effexor but I crashed on it. Apparently the XR version keeps the venlaflaxine at a more steady level in your body. I have been on this for about 6 months, but 2 months ago my doctor decided to increase my dosage from 300 mg. to 375 mg. and my blood pressure went through the roof. It was 170/110 and when put on blood pressure meds it did not come down right away. Seems like that extra 75 mg. did it. It has come down now, but I am still on the blood pressure meds for another 6 weeks. I've tried both the regular effexor and the effexor XR (Extended Release). I crashed in a major way while on the regular effexor but have been doing quite nicely on the XR version. Presumably, it's because the XR does maintain a more steady state of venlaflaxine in my bloodstream.
