Why do we have to be such a tight assed over regulated society! Why can't people like me, who know what the hell is going on and have half a clue get a license to do whatever they want! ARGH! I've been through 3 different SRI's now and they all do the same nasty crap to my head, and I know it. I can see whats going on in my body. I can see what each med does to my psyche. Is that so hard to believe? Not to me! I know other people who can peer into thier own heads. Why is it so hard for my pdoc to see that? Now I'm on 2 weeks of effexor and the sri part of it is screwing me up again. And he wants to taper me off.

Just like ereryone one else on this twisted planet, pdocs just wont LISTEN to you or me for that matter. Ive taken 5 different anti-depressents over the last 18 months. Everytime I switch I remind them of the symptoms and the side effects I hate and everyone of the different meds effect me the same way. My depression is still their also. When it comes on now it seems to be stronger, if anything. A word of warning if you want to quit them, gradually decrease, your dep will really be bad if you do it cold turkey. I tried it and I wont ever do it that way again. You especially don't want to do cold turkey with Effexor, I take Effexor, and the withdrawal syndrome is total misery. Cold turkey off Efffexor just isn't a good idea. What 5 antidepressants have you tried and how severe were the side-effects for each different anti-depressant ? Because I am on Paxil and have had a lot of side-effects some of which have cleared up but some, like sleeping regularly, are still there. I have only been taking it for two weeks, so I'm gonna try to tough it out. But I am very interested in which 5 antidepressants youve tried, for how long and what side effects. I took Paxil for about 3 months, I would get jumpy and wired. I switched too zoloft which gave me massive headaches. I only took that one for about a week. So then my doc switched me too serezone. Serezone worked great for about 6 to 7 months, but then it just quit working. My doc then switched me too Elavil (I have sleep problems to:elavil helps you sleep), the Elavil worked okay but my libido went too zero, just at the time when I got in a serious relationship. Not a charming side effect :-) Finnaly my doc refered me too a pdoc and he put me on remeron. Ive been on remeron for 9 weeks now, at first it worked great, but the last week I have had a moderate case of depression. Unfortunately the remeron effects libidos also. My relationship crashed. From what I have read most meds effect your sexuality. Ohhhh well I guess Ill have something to talk about at my next pdoc apointment :-)
