I would like to start taking Prozac. Can I get it from a regular doctor, or do I have to go to a psychiatrist?

When I asked my Primary Care Doctor for Prozac, He replied that he had better results with Zoloft, which he gladly prescribed. Doctors are forced by the vendors to sell their medications. Don't be shy about asking/demanding to try the med you want. Even my insurance company is in cahoots with Paxil and Prozac... I had to fail Paxil and Prozac before they would allow me to get a prescription for Zoloft. Even at that, the pDr. had to get a special authorization#. The pharmacist now tells me that sometimes the insurance companies call the Dr. telling them to prescribe a different medication since the different medications are more cost effective for the insurance company! hmmmmmm...
