Does anyone have anything to report on this combo? I am on 50mg/day of Prozak and beginning to experiment with 0.5mg/day of Klonopin. It's still hard to say whether K. has any effect.
Answer:
Like I said, I am beginning to experiment with Klonopin and hardly feel any effects. My doc warned me about possible dependency, but can those of you responding with experiences indicate the dosages involved, and what were the feelings of dependency (what felt so good?). From what I understand of Klonopin, it makes you feel very relaxed, but not necessarily sleepy. The addiction is such that you have to take more and more to get the same effect, and eventually you have to take massive doses to even feel normal. In other words, it stops having any affect at all. BUT, if you go off it, you might be worse off than you were before you started it. That is my experience. I presumed that with any dependency there is some original "payoff" that makes one take the second dose, or increase the dose, before dependency is established and one has to take it in order not to feel crappy. Also, a related issue: some dependencies are not that detrimental other than by the fact of dependency itself (so it feels bad if you ever run out of the stuff, like caffeine, or, some say, morphine), and some have very bad consequences even if you keep using regularly (like methedrine or alcohol). So, to those who report dependency, those are my questions: what was the initial positive effect, if any, that compelled you to continue/increase Klonopin (I feel none at .5mg) and what were the detrimental effects, if any, of dependency, other than dependency itself (not a great thing even by itself, to be sure).
