I am a recovering anorexic who just had a baby (YAY!!!) Anyway, I was on Proxac before I got pregnant and then went off when I found out I was pregnant. I saw my doc yesterday and she put me on Effexor for the reoccurring depression, but I have read somewhere that it can make you have anorexic tendencies, or make you forget to eat. I don't want to get back in that rut again and am wondering if anyone had any experience with Effexor??

I did have problems remembering to eat when I was on Paxil, which is very similar to Prozac. I do not have that problem at all on Effexor. If I do not eat enough when I take it, I feel nauseous. I get hungry later in the day. I do sometimes forget to eat lunch, but that's more a factor of my job than the meds. i wish it did this for me. effexor helped me gain alot of weight when i took it 2 yrs ago.... anorexia was supposed to be a side effect which when my dr prescribed it we said, "we hope!:" (not making fun, my over-weight has been a problem which is, yes, depressing! ) i wonder if it just depends on which way your tendencies are. mine are towards gaining anyway... i hope effexor works for you the way you want it to however. it has been very frustrating for me...
