I suffer from chronic depression and take wellbutrin and klonopin for it. This combo has helped a little, but I still have have a long way to go. One of my major problems has been overwhelming fatigue. I am considering a "stimulant" such as dexedrine, ritalin, adderall, etc. to help me with the fatigue.

My doc is doing a carefully controled test of Ritalin; since I continue to experience fatigue while taking 20 MG Prozac. Here are some interim results: Generic Ritalin, rebound tiredness (his phrase for it,) hollow feeling. I actually slept more than without it. Long-acting generic, a little better. The branded product, (Ritalin) seemed to work better, even in 5MG dose. Obviously I'm only one case, all disclaimers apply, yata yata etc. I would strongly recommend that you do NOT take Dexedrine. Apart from it being hard to get a prescription for (it is not legally prescribable for depression). You must be taking klonopin for the anxiety you get from the wellbutrin. That is fine. There are a few problems with adding Dexedrine to the mix: 1) Wellbutrin already lowers the seizure threshold, and although Klonopin would help with this, Dexedrine could make the whole mix rather unpredictable. 2) Side effects of the Wellbutrin could be magnified with Dexedrine. 3) Dexedrine can raise blood pressure. 4) Dexedrine will supply you with a sense of well being, and also energy+ACE- The problem here is that after a while: a) You will need a higher dosage of Dexedrine to get the same well-being and energy. b) The well-being effect will start to wane, no matter what dosage you take... Taking higher and higher dosages is dangerous. c) Congratulations+ACE- You are now an Amphetamine addict+ACEAIQ- How does it feel? You will need Dexedrine just to feel the way you felt BEFORE you started taking it+ACE- And when you go off? You will feel more fatigue than you have ever felt in your life+ACE- Not to mention the depression, the constipation, etc. You will be in bed for a week, and breathing, and even blinking take conscious effort+ACE- (I have been there).
