I have had bad results with all of the drugs that lower dopamine levels, esp. Prozac, and I would like to try Wellbutrin but am concerned because I already tend to be anxious and sometimes irritable. I would really like to hear from anyone who has taken this combo or a similar one.

Your shrink should be able to help you...I'm on klonopin for anxiety and Wellbutrin for depression. And I feel ok after a month at full dosages. Have you tried Serzone? The question my shrink raised was: "Do we treat the anxiety as a symptom of depression? Or do we treat depression and see what effect that has on anxiety?" After a year of different meds, we decided to treat both at the same time. Your milage may vary. Your psychiatrist should be familiar with the new drugs and should know what he's trying to 'cure'. I have taken just about everything!! I have not found a med that I can live with!! I am taking Wellbutrin and Klonopin now. I think that the Welbutrin makes me anxious. But I do think that it helps with the depression. But, I don't think that it is worth the anxiety and the need to take Klonopin. I would also be interested in hearing what others have to say about Wellbutrin. I am going to be trying Remeron, but have heard about terrible weight gain. I love Wellbutrin. Has helped with my depression. No anxiety 'cept for first couple weeks and when I increased does to 400 mg. per day. At 300 mg. per day, I'm fine. Very helpful. At the beginning had a "caffeinated" feeling, but it went away. Oh yeah: Wellbutrin SR disturbed my sleep, but (regular) Wellbutrin didn't.
