My doctor has just prescribed 200 mg/daily of Serzone (Nefazodone-oral) on top of BuSpar for dysthymia. Does anyone have any experience with or information about Serzone?
Answer:
I ahve been on 250mg. for somewhat relief of disthymia, but effects limited now and may not be working. But was better than the hypomania of Proxac Serzone.... hmmmm... I have been onmany different tyes of meds for depression over the last few years. Prozac and Nortripline combination was the best for me but then subsided after awhile and fizzled away. Also, it had a perverse side effect on sexuality for me. I don't know about women and how that affects some of them, but I know how it affected me. I almost liked the side affect but my wife hated it. Wellbutrin was a waste of my time and did nothing for my sleeping or depression. Zoloft did nothing for me either in any way. Paxil and Elavil,, nadda, nothing, ziltch... But, now we get to the Serzone. I was forst put on a high dosage of 300mg to start and then moved rapidly up to 450mg. And with this I was taking 100mg of Wellbutrin. Doing this made me loose all balance and co-ordination, my memory was fuzzy and my eyes felt weird. So much so that I couldn't even watch TV because the motion, or the eyes pre-sense of motion made me sick to my stomach. I ended up being taken off completely. After a weeks time I was put back on it at only 100mg split daily and then up by 50 mg after 2 weeks and then up again 50mg the next week and am now taking 350mg split daily. I get sleepy but know that if I go to sleep earlier than I know I should, I end up waking up 2 hours later fully awake. Not able to go back to sleep. The depression has leved out a little bit but not as much as I would like it to. I know this is long and that each person reacts so differently thatn others do. Even with the same amounts given. It is in my expereince that my body reacts to all meds the same, it allows it for so long then it fades off. I hope that this isn't the case for you and that the Serzone helps you.
