I suffer from high levels of anxiety and compulsive disorder. How come I don't hear to much about Prozac anymore? Is Buspar better. My Paxil isn't working. I went 20 30 40mg for 3 months now and want to switch.

I also suffer from anxiety and compulsive (thinking) disorder. (as well as depression) I tried Prozac for 6 days with terrible side effects. (everyone reacts to medications differently.) I have been taking Zoloft for several months now and feel I have found the "solution" medication (for me). I had to take gradual increases due to my sensitivity to medications, but am currently trying my last increase (150mg). Both 100mg and 125mg were promising and I may drop back down to one of those levels after discussion with pDr. next Tuesday. I did have reactions when first taking Zoloft, but they were more manageable than when taking Prozac. I never tried Buspar nor Paxil. I am also prescribed no more than .25mg of Xanax daily (for the anxiety). The Zoloft has helped me so much I hardly take the Xanax. Wooldridge, I had severe nausea after only 4 days of 20mg. Lost 4 lbs. (I'm only 5ft and 95lbs on a good day!) Very dizzy when standing and lack of sleep. By day 6, the above reactions were the same and, I had hot rushing tingles in my arms (especially the left arm) and throughout my head. These tingles were overwhelming when I laid down. Very scary. I was out of state on a business trip when this happened and had to call for assistance and go to the emergency room. Again, meds react differently for everyone. I switched to Zoloft and took it in baby steps; beginning at 12.5mg instead of 25mg and did such until I found the right dose (with pDr. assistance). I am now on 125mg and holding.
