I have been on paxil for about 1.5 yrs now.I am about to get married and don'tlike all the side effects like the slowed sex drive. anyone else experience this?? What would be the best thing to do ?? I am now in maintanence type therapy sessions...every 2-3 months only??
Answer:
i cant steer you in a particular direction, but talk to your doc and see what he/she says. i'm a guy and the drive never changed through amitryptyline/zoloft/paxil/trazodone/paxil. the amitryptyline was a short agonizing experience that couldnt end fast enough. zoloft gave me my life back, no affect on sex-function, though, throughout. there's new stuff showing up often anymore. I have noticed I have lots of times when I feel agitated and often have some awful mood swings too!! My finace' is working on his Psy. D in clinical psych. and says in his opinion that I am on too much meds. and I have side effects due to the long time use of Paxil and the dosage .... I want to talk to my doc. but I don't want to start a new drug regimen or anything. I tend to agree I don't really need the meds anymore. can I ever relate. I've been on Paxil for nearly a year, and while it's working for the -depression-, I have absolutely zero interest in sex. This is a Bad Thing, because I'm not even married a year yet. The Paxil started doing its number on me while I was on my honeymoon, for heaven's sake. I've been on and off antidepressants (Desipramine, Prozac, Zoloft and now Paxil) ever since I was fourteen, and thus far Paxil's worked the best for me, but the main side effect is a killer. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as you, Holly. I don't know what to do about it, because I've brought up the subject with my doctor and his response was something to the effect of 'it's all in your head.' *bitter laugh* Well, OF COURSE IT IS!!!
