Question:
I am supposed to work up to taking two 37.5 MGs of Effexor XR daily -- both pills in the morning. My question is... Does it sound unusual to take both pills at once, rather than splitting them up, even if they are extended release? Has anyone else's doctor prescribed two pills at the same time? I'm worried because I hear so many people complain of nausea with Effexor.

Answer:
My physician started me on 75 MG of EffexorXR right at the start--and I had no trouble. The XR is meant to be taken all at one time. There is a non-extended release formula--that can be split and taken--but that is up to the doctor. Usually 75 MG is considered the minimum therapeutic dosage. And, I had no problems with Effexor XR--until I got up to 150 MG--and then I was too tired...so I went to the regular one, so I could split the dosage. I take 225 mg. upon arising. Gastrointestinal problems did bother me at ffirst, They no longer do. It does sound unusual to me, I take 150 mgs. of Effexor XR in the A.M. and 150 mgs. of Effexor XR in the P.M. Maybe your doctor believes it works better taken in the A.M. You might want to ask him about it. I take the Effexor XR twice and day and have taked with many people who do. I don't think it is rare. Also, you may want to change the color of your letters. They are VERY difficult to read against the black background.
