What is Effexor XR?
Answer:
It is the "extended release" version of Effexor. Over an average of 17 hours, it releases the amount of Effexor you are taking. It has worked GREAT for me, and some people have posted positive comments about it. In clinical studies, Effexor XR beat out Prozac and Paxil in people remiting back into depression after a months or so period. I have been on mostly ALL a.d's, and benzo's, so I know my side effects and terminology well!!I've lost weight on this drug, and feel much more confident about my life..even though, I have many barriers to overcome. I'd suggest anybody with depression give it a try..I take Klonipin with it at bedtime to get a good sleep, and that helps take some of the "edginess" a.d's may intitally cause. Anyways, IMHO, YMMV, I don't take Effexor XR, because the standard tabs work fine for me. But that's what I started with, so we don't like to rock the boat. Extended release tabs of Effexor overall are better, I think, but there are certain disadvantages, such as that withdrawal is more pronounced when withdrawing from XR over the standard.
