I've tried most of the SSRI's, and have noticed that I get cravings for "feel-good" drugs (dopaminergics, even alcohol) the whole time I'm on them. Even trazodone triggers this response.

YES! The docs never believed me, but I had the most intense cravings for alcohol! Always just a social beer drinker, Zoloft made me crave vodka in a big way....and I could consume vast amounts with little to no hangover. We are talking 3/4 of a bottle here....I was not depressed anymore, but I was now becoming an alcoholic. I also gained 50 pounds. Yes, I realize now that my depression was being mismanaged by both the doc and myself. I finally just stopped taking the Zoloft and within weeks I was back to just wanting a beer now and then and the taste for vodka all but disappeared. I am now on Wellbutrin and have no taste for alcohol of any kind and have not had so much as a beer in 3 months. Please, if this is a concern for you, tell your doc and make him understand this is a real problem for some people. I am not the only person this has happened to. My belief is that the drug companies know they won't sell as much if people know about some of the 'other' potential side effects. well, last time i was on paxil, i smoked an amazing amount of pot. i think it was mostly because i always felt so edgy (and because it helped me get to sleep at night).
