i'm on zoloft and have quite recently started taking xanax (and inderal occasionally), and i suspect that the xanax and inderal, while helping the anxiety, also make me feel really depressed. i'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this effect, and if anyone could have any guesses as to why the two drugs seem to override the effects of the zoloft.

The fact that Xanax is a central nervous system depressant may account for the increase in depression. Although Zoloft is an antidepressant, some people will experience this effect. Best to stay away from all CNS depressants if possible, i.e. alcohol, codeine (contained in Tylenol), other tranquilizers or sleep agents. all beta blockers are potential depressents--if it doesn't fit speak to your psychopharmicologist about it --probable will have to stop. Xanax is kind of scary, maybe you should get a second opinion (causes addiction and withdrawel anxiety)
