Is there a knowledgeable person who knows the best way to make the transition from Paxil to sjw? Also what's the best way to take sjw, drops or caps? And how much a day? So much to learn.
Answer:
Normally one would "step down" on the Paxil and slowly increase the dosage of the SJW. Your doctor should be advised, and allow them to determine the rate of step down. However, most doc's will not have much knowlegde about a product that costs one apx. $13.00 per month, and does not need a prescription to obtain. Recent medical studies confirm the safety of St. John's Wort. In Germany, sixty six million daily doses of Hypericum (SJW) were taken in 1994. There were no reports of serious drug interactions or even toxicity after accidental overdose. Hypericum does not have a single recorded human death in 2,400 years of known medicinal use. I can't top the preceeding reply, but can only say that sjw plus some caffeine, vitamins B and C, exercise, and a nap have helped me. The downside of sjw. is that it causes some aggression and taxes the short-term memory. I only take it once a day, in the morning. I think one is best advised not to take it once or twice a week. Also, a little agression doesn't hurt a normally depressed personality. I'm not talking about attacking people, but about not feeling self-pity nor backing down from difficulties when by oneself and getting the same respect everyone else does because one doesn't back down from oneself. I'd like to add that one cap of sjw about four to five times a week for me is enough, but I've found that aerobic exercise intensifies its effect greatly- running, swimming, weightlifting, dancing, etc. I suspect that this works more oxygen into one's nervous system and increases the depth of one's sleep- its lack of depth being another possible cause of depression. Depression has no one solution- combine counseling, exercise, medicine, and a nap in the afternoon and whatever else works. Just take care of yourself!
