I think that since the arms of a truly loving woman can make my major depression and generalized anxiety go away for years, there is no chemical imbalance in my brain for the meds to "correct." So adding powerful "extra" neurochemicals to the traumatic-period stew only makes me feel worse. Don't think so? Why else would five different antidepressants trigger massive anxiety and panic???

Have you tried these alternative methods, cause I have a great deal of trouble sticking to any regime. Having experienced quite dramatic (manicish) mood swings for days upon a time I have a tendency to hope I may find that 'magic' pill that will make the good moods stay forever. I don't think anyone here would have the cheek to disagree with your explanation of what's going on in your case. You seem to me to have an extremely clear insight into what is happening. The only point I feel like making about your experience with ADs, is that anxiety reactions to them aren't that uncommon at all. In fact during the three and a bit years this NG has been around we've had countless posts from people who have experienced heightened anxiety - especially from SSRIs. Indeed, both Prozac and Zoloft did it to me, so I'm not *certain* you're quite as paradoxical in your reaction to them as you might think. Anyway, good luck with the SJW and please let us know how you get on with it. Opinions here to date have differed considerably and the more user feedback we can get, the better :)
