Question:
I am currently coming off Effexor after 4 weeks of cutting my doses in half every week. Today is the first day of no Effexor. The withdrawl symptoms are really bad:

Answer:
I took Effexor for almost a year and every time I reached a tolerance point, I started to go through the withdrawal symptoms you mention. As I finally reached the highest dosage I could take, it became unbearable and I had to ramp back off of the drug under the doctor's supervision. It was a really nasty drug as far as side effects, but the one thing I can say, is that when it worked...it worked well. I did go back onto another AD within three months. I think it was Remeron. Effexor has definitely been the worst AD for withdrawal I've ever had, and I've taken an amazing variance of them over the past eight years. Even now I take Luvox 300mg day, Depakote 1500mg day, Lithium 300mg day and Klonopin 2-4mg day. Now boys and girls, you see why cleaning the gene pool is mandatory. Not only can this moron NOT read, but he, because let's face it...this moron MUST be a male, is also a COWARD for not posting a real address and using Anonymous to hide his identity. Me, too. In fact, I felt withdrawal symptoms every few hours when I was on Effexor, just before I was due for my next dose (and worse if I was late taking my pills). Mostly it was dizziness and a kind of sinking feeling when I moved my head. It lasted for *months* after I quit taking Effexor. I have had very similar problems to you in trying to come off effexor (200mg per day), but know of cases taking 600 whohave really serious withdrawal problems. If you supplement your last stage with Prozac say from 100 mg you can do the last stage quicker and with less side effects. Also you can supplement effexor with NURONTIN as a means of keeping the effexor dose low and yet get a boosted effect. The vertigo feelings are really horrible. Feeling like you are going to faint every 20 secs is no joke. You have my sympathy. Try CONVALEX when you are finished with the effexor. It is more user freindly and provides good effects. Incidentally the manufacturers deny in my experience the effexor creates such serious withdrwal problems
