Has anyone out there experience any withdrawal symptoms with Prozac? I'm a bit ignorant about what has been documented, but what about anecdotal evidence?
Answer:
I tell my clients to "step down" the meds. This means to cut the dosage in half for 3 to 7 days. Then to 1/4 dosage for the same amout of time. I will have the clients go to 1/8 dose, if appropriate. It never hurts to taper off, though I stopped cold turkey with absolutely no withdrawal symptoms, no rebound depression, no nuthin! Prozac has a very long half life, and as such it is supposedly "self-tapering". I've read many posts from people stopping Prozac with no withdrawal symptoms, although I've also read posts from people who HAVE. You are here--so I guess you are subscribed.
