I think I want to ask my doctor to increase my dosage. I weigh about 190 pounds. What dosage of Serzone do others in my situation take ? When can I expect to "level out" and feel better constantly ? I am very pleased at the lack of side effects that I have felt. Is an increased dosage more likely to give me side effects ?

The psychiatry research unit at UT Southwestern (next to Parkland) is currently doing research on Serzone - it might be worth giving them a call. Here is what I remember from using it. I don't remember the dosage I was using and I don't want to give you bad info but I think it was about half the daily limit. Serizone has a life span of about 3-4 hours of effect for me. I took less in the morning so I wasn't to high at work. I took more (higher dose) on the way home. I just popped a few more when I started coming down. It was that simple. Don't take it at night or you will be wasting that dose. It is not an over-night drug (at least it wasn't for me). As long as you are well below the daily limit don't worry about it (your doctor can tell you about this). I am 215lbs and I usually need more of anything I take than some smaller people. Let your doctor know if you need more of a daily dosage and work with him/her so he trusts you not to OD. If you become immuned to Serizone or you are approaching the daily limit and still feeling like crap, I would recommend trying another anti-depressant. Serizone is not going to work for everyone. It did work good for me but I was only on it for about a month. I am going back on it soon. Here is an Internet page for looking up drugs. I think Serizone has a Generic as well.
