I am taking Remeron, 30 mg/day. My psychiatrist just added Ritalin, 10 mg/4 times per day about 10 days ago. I feel very edgey and my muslces are very stiff and tense, and I am sweating heavily under my arms. My mood has improved a little overall. I was wondering if my reaction to Dexedrine (d-amphetamine) is likely to be different, and I would like to hear feedback from people who have taken both Ritalin and Dexadrine to augment antidepressants. Can these two drugs affect the same individual very differently?

This is the first I've herad of Ritalin being used in this way. I've only come across it before in the context of ADD or ADHD. I take Ritalin and Dexedrine with the Wellbutrin...at first 5 mg of Ritalin kept me up and funtioning all day...now its simmialar to the other person that responeded to you...it only lasts an hour at time..3 times 20mg..gives me maybe 3 hours day...without that..I cnat get up out bed..so Im settling for that now...10 mg Dexedrine alos...seems to have effect of less short term energy ..and more lasting type ability to stay up...I dont like the tense feel I get on more Dexedrine...and then I have trouble sppleeeping even though very tired..Im scared of coming off Ritalin, Dex..aswithout it..I sleep year at a time...however cycling bad now crashing 6 ytimes daily and I dont know if that caused it...I tried not taking ait..a day..and same thing happens...well I see Dr. tommoreoo..it becomes temping to take more Ritalin to buy extra hour to be alive..but if I take too much I pay for it by not being able to sleep till late amm..and I am tired wishing to get sleep..also if I take it too late in ftafternoon smae theing happens..good luck keep oin touch...:} Is the Ritalin taken to keep you awake or assist your concentration powers? Perhaps you can ask your doctor to give you the time release Ritalin pills which will give you a more continuous medication. Hope this is of some help: my doctor prescribed me Cylert for this very reason. As far as I know, Ritalin is not a time released medication but Cylert is. Ask your doctor... There is a time-released version, Ritalin SR, which only needs to be taken once a day. Cylert has a longer half-life than Ritalin and therefore can also be used just once a day.
