Question:
What I have seen with Prozac recently is that it is effective and helpful for some, just as some of the other AD meds that are out there. Prozac is just one of a handful, not the best, but certainly worth keeping on the list. This is such an individual thing....how these AD meds work....and Prozac certainly has helped many, as have the other meds that are available.

I am also on 10 mg. Prozac, as well as 750 mg. Depakote. I'm going through a few changes myself, having moved from a far-away state and adjusting to a new lifestyle and not knowing people here too well. I am fortunate to have found a sliding-fee mental health clinic where I linked up with a therapist and a pdoc right away. I agree that at times a good therapist is as essential as food and water. Asks around and see if you can find a therapist to suit your needs and your income level. I think you should respect those destructive feelings, talk to your psychiatrist about it, but it may not be that the Prozac isn't working. Your depression may be circumstantial with all the changes in your life; moving is a major one! On the other hand, your dosage may be too low or Prozac may not be the right antidepressant for you anymore. If the destructive thoughts get overwhelming, TALK to someone; you can e-mail me anytime and I will listen and offer any support I can cause I have been there; or call someone you know or talk to your psychiatrist. There's no need to suffer alone with this.
