Question:
I was just given Trazodone for insomnia, 50mg/night. I'm currently taking Zoloft in the morning, 50mg/day. I had insomnia long before I started taking an SSRI.

Answer:
I have been on that exact combination for about 2 months now and have had no side effects except for delayed ejaculation, which ain't necessarily a bad thing. I was just taking the zoloft but it wasn't really helping with the insomnia I was experiencing. The trazodone pretty well gets me a good nights sleep. One thing to consider about the trazodone is that it can cause prolonged erections which can require medical attention. My doc told me that at just 50mg a night this is very rare, and I certainly haven't experienced anything like that. I've taken the combination for about 2 1/2 years now. I currently take 150mg Zoloft in the morning and 50-100/mg Trazodone at night (usually only 50mg). It seems to have done the trick for me....my depression is controlled and I sleep pretty well. If I don't take the Trazadone, I usually don't sleep. This has concerned me in the past, but after talking to my doctor in depth about this, I've come to realize I really need it because of the way I respond to Zoloft. I am taking both those pills also.I hate it cause i use to go to sleep at 12 midnight.Know i am out at 10pm.No matter where i am.Iwas on my way home one night and puff was out.Dont worry i wasnt driving.
