Wellbutrin has done some good things for me over the past 6 months ( weight loss, quit drinking) but it really did little for the depression, and nothing at all for the rabid monthly mood swings. A week on Serzone had me sleeping about 15 hours a day, off balance, achy and nauseated. Yesterday, the doc prescribed Buspar, starting *real* slow at 5mg a day, working up to 15 and then we'll see. Has anyone had this combination and what were your side effects? I am getting so tired of the side effects after numerous ADs that I am about ready to just throw in the towel.
Answer:
Iım taking 300 mg of Wellbutrin and just added Buspar this morning. Iıll keep you posted if you are willing to do same. I had been taking BuSpar for about a year. I noticed a strange side effect... it was not quite dizziness, not quite drowsiness, but a little of both. It started about an hour after each dose, and made me lethargic for about an hour after that. I started taking Luvox immediately after I got off the BuSpar, and the combination of the leftover BuSpar and the Luvox really threw me for a loop, so to speak. I felt apathetic and "droopy" until a few weeks after I stopped the BuSpar... I have taken both Wellbutrin and Buspar but not together. The Wellbutrin works well while it is working, you take it four times a day but its positive effects seem to last only 2 to 2 1/2 hours. This leaves you very irritable until you are scheduled to take your nest dose. The Buspar really evens you out nicely and should do a lot to make those "down" periods more bearable (for your friends and family, that is).
