Question:
Zyprexa and Seroquel are terrible for weight gain?

Answer:
Don't take this person's word for anything about my meds regimen, or anything else about me. I haven't taken Zyprexa in years. I took Seroquel for about three years without another atypical until my doctor decided to d/c it for most of his patients because of the increased incidence of diabetes and other weight-related problems (I did gain weight, but did not get diabetes). He then switched me to Abilify, without another atypical, which I've been taking for over a year. A few weeks ago, I requested something for sleep, and we settled on 25 mg of Seroquel because it's a tiny dose and he didn't want to prescribe a sleep medication for longterm use. After a couple of weeks, I discovered I was beginning to crave sugar on the Seroquel and took myself off of it. I did not gain any additional weight this time on Seroquel. That was the reason I went off Zyprexa and onto Seroquel, but also the reason I went off Seroquel and onto Abilify, if that makes any sense. According to my doctor, they've both been implicated in causing diabetes and metabolic syndrome, but yes, Zyprexa more so than Seroquel, from what I understand. Naturally, you would know better than I.
