The maximum dosage for paxil is 50mg, since you've done so well for so long, I think you should try raising the dose by 10 or 20 mg and see if that works. I'm not a healthcare professional, just someone who's trying find one of these meds that works for me -- I'm on Paxil now, so far I don't feel any different and I'm up to 40mg. I wish it would work as I don't have the side effects I did with the others...
Answer:
I have been on 20 mg of paxil for 4 years now and it has been a lifesaver for me. Now it seems I having symptoms again as I did 4 yrs ago, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances. They were getting intense for about 5 weeks , then they leveled off. However I am once again feeling the symptoms start to break thru, though not as intense. Does paxil stop working after a particular amount of time? Should I look for my psy to increase the dosage or is it time to go to something other than Paxil? Sounds a lot like what happened to me. I took 20mg for 3 and a half years, and it eventually stoped working for me. Increasing the dosage to 40mg didn't help much, but switching to Effexor is working great.
