I was just diagnosed with depression, and just started Zoloft yesterday. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I can possibly expect.

I am being treated for depression and Zoloft is what I am currently taking. I've tried other things before and for me Zoloft has the least side effects and the best results. It takes a while to kick in, but stay with it. Take it in the morning and make it part of your everyday routine. Exercise is also very helpful. I asked the same question about a month ago. Everyone seemed to have a different response. For me it's been feeling very tired and flat ALL the time - at least before I went up and down. I'm not enjoying this and am going to ask my doc if I can go off it. But don't let this put you off. The doc told me another of his patients felt great after a month. Also I have a friend who is so energised on Zoloft, he has to take valium to calm down. Seems everyone has an individual reaction to these AD's. Good luck Crystal, I hope yours is a postive one. That was the first medication I tried for depression, and the first thing I can say is, everyone is affected differently. No one can tell you exactly what to expect, but I can tell you what I experienced. I lost 10 lbs. and felt nauseous to the point of dry-heaving all the time. I never did feel any real benefit from it, but it did seem to cure my insomnia permanently. No other side effects than nausea. My advice is to take the Zoloft with food, and if you feel any nausea, try taking Emetrol, an anti-nausea medicine. You can buy it over the counter at the drugstore.
