Question:
Don't know what's going on. I've been on 75mg of effexor 3mg of risperdal and 75mg of anafranil for some time now. Social Security turned me down for benefits. Now I need to find a job. (I've been trying but have failed 2 times by quiting)....I've gone to several interviews without much luck...I'm very self consious about being on the meds in the first place.. all I know is I need to get my act in gear or I'll not have any money to get meds let alone have a roof over my head...........I'm thinking about appealing the decision regarding SSI benefits but it's been a humiliating experience.

Answer:
I am from Canada, so I can't offer any personal advice about SSI. BUT, many people in the website "alt.support.anxiety-panic" are quite knowledgeable of the system. I would suggest post your message to that group, and you'd should get some good advice! I'll try to track down some stuff what I've found on the web about SSI too. I take effexor and zyprexa which zyprexa is ;like risperadol. Have you experienced weightr gain from any med. also I am lucky my husband works because I also have quit at least 5 jobs and am very self-conscious of my meds. I want a job that I can tell the truth and my strong points I am on disapbility have you applied with state disability? As for the job-hunting...have you tried running a web-search for a home-based job using your PC? There are a variety of possibilities if you just cannot bring yourself to get out and face people, and it might be a way for you to earn something to supplement a less-demanding job on the *outside*. Also, you might find it easier to take a job using a placement service...and tell them that you are very *shy* around people, and want something that lets you work without having to deal much with the public. This sort of placement service often does not require a formal interview, since many of the jobs are temporary. However, my sister has worked full-time for a temporary service for over ten years...usually subbing in an office answering phones and filing, etc., while regular employees are off for maternity leave or extended vacation. Many people do not realize that there is a great difference between private salary or disability insurance and public, government a granted disability pension. In North America, the usual conditions for receiving a permanent disability pension is that the disability prevents you from doing any kind of paid work whatsoever and that it will last indefinitely (i.e., be permanent). If you are expected to recover enough to go back to work, the condition is considered to be temporary and no pension will be granted. Your only hope is to have less stringent private insurance or to be covered under Workers' Compensation because the condition is work-related.
