I don't mean to "flog a dead horse", and this issue could go on forever, as many respond to all a.d's differently. But..could we get some "testomonials" of people who have been on an a.d for a lengthy period of time (ie. greater then a year), and never really experienced weight gain? This may help some (well..many) of us who have weight gain problems with ALOT of a.d's. In particular, it would be interesting to hear from those who have been on tricyclic medications.

I'm on 30 mg of Prozac a day (20 one day, 40 the next) and initially lost 10 pounds, and am now stable at a normal weight for me. Have been for months. I was on Effexor last year and put on 20 pounds - took 4 months to loose it after stopping. I kept asking my doctor if I was retaining water (being a guy, that is apparently funny). Was on Paxil a couple of years ago, it had no effect on my weight. I know someone on Zoloft who is loosing weight. I have learned enough here to know that there is no formula for what will and what won't affect your weight - I have read others that contradict what I have experienced. I'm on Zoloft and have been gaining weight. At first I was losing because of initial side effects that screwed with my stomach, but now that those are gone I've gained probably around 30 lbs in a year. I hear Wellbutrin is supposed to boost your energy level, anyone know if it helps to boost metabolism as well? I lost about fifteen pounds on Prozac, without trying, mainly because of the appetite loss. This went on for about half a year. At one point, the only thing that tasted halfway decent was Reese's Pieces. Real food? Forget it. When my pdoc added Wellbutrin, I dropped another five pounds or so; it may have looked like I was sliding toward anorexia. When I switched to Effexor, I gained all the weight back and about five pounds extra. But the drugs worked differently for everyone.
