My doctor has reccomended the use of tri-cyclic drugs to treat my Hyperactive depression. Can any one tell me what they are? She won't!
Answer:
Not sure what you're asking. I can tell you an example of a tricyclic. I'm not any kind of professional, so I can't explain what they do. I only know I've been taking them for over 20 years. LOL. What I take is Elavil. The generic is amitriptyline (spelling?). I take them at night, because I have sleep problems and they help that. There are websites that deal with pharmacology. Try doing a search on tricylic antidepressant. Or Elavil. Tricyclics are the oldest antidepressants and quite effective. Their major drawback is the number of side effects. These include dry mouth and sedation. But if your depression has you kind of hyper, a little sedation might be why the doc is suggsting them.
