I wanted to know what people attribute the distinct anti-anxiety component of nefadozone (Serzone) to.

I have been on anti-dep continually for the last eight years due to physical problems. I have tried just about all and have had side effect imaginable and unimanageable. Serzone has been wonderful for me. It is the pill of choice from chronic pain clinics. Just remembe to always start out low and slow. Then gradually increase dose. I always give a FOUR month trial to every new med, unless of course I find myself near death from a side effect. The four-month waiting can be hell, but in the long run it works the best. My dosage is 300mg at bed, and 150 in morning. It has caused no drowsiness and my anxiety is under control. Other drugs that have Norepi and 5HT2 activity may relieve anxiety. Which action does it for sure? As with most Psych med no one really knows. Also, Their appears to be a relationship between depression and anxiety. Such that as the depression is relieved the anxiety goes. Caveat, this does not in the reverse. Meds that treat anxiety - Benzodiapines, don't treat depression. Xanax may be an exception.
