Has anyone taken Seroxat (Paroxetine) an SSRI I would like to know your experience of this medication as I've just been prescribed it and I'm wondering why I'm high most of the time.

I started taking paxil (20mg) in december, so I haven't been on it for a very long time. For me it has helped with depression, but I just came back from the pharmacy to renew my prescription, but the pdoc has upped the dosage to 30mg. It also helped me with anxiety, and I now feel more in control. The feelings of anxiey are not gone, but they build slower, and hopefully I'll gain more control with the dosage upped to 30mg. Feeling high...I'm not totally sure what you mean by this. When my depression started to lift a bit (like going from really unhappy, to less unhappy), I started to be able to talk to people better, listen to what they were really saying, socialize, and enjoy it, not just survive it...I think what I'm getting at is, for some people, if they've lived with depression for a long time, might feel wierd, when their depression starts to lift, since they start to feel things, experience feelings they couldn't before because they were not living life, but merely coping with it. Some people who have been depressed for years, say that it almost feels like being reborn. I'm not there yet, so I can't comment, but I can say that I've been feeling/thinking thoughts, that I have never done before. Depression/anxiety can prevent you from really experiencing life, since you spend a lot of your energy, coping with it. If you live with it long enough, you might not notice the difference.
