having been on lustral (sertraline hydrochloride) for two and a half months it seems to have stopped working i feel at this moment almost as bad as i did when i first went to a doctor. has anybody any similar experience?
Answer:
I hav been on Zoloft, which is the same substance (sertralin hydrochlorid) as Lustral, for 13 months now. I started dec -97 with 50 mg, which hardly helped at all, for 2 months. Then I increased the dose to 100 mg and had an excellent effect. I felt really good until about 4 months later (summer -97), when the depression slowly returned. My doctor increased the dose to 150 mg which helped, but once again (and it was a bad period in my life!) the effect slowly weakened. But this time not as dramatically. I could have made it on 150 mg but my doctor persuaded me to increase the dose to 200 mg( and that's one month ago now). I do not experience any side effects at all. My doctor says that this phenomenon is quite common - especially if you have been depressed for a long time before getting medical treatment. You probably need to increase the dose - and if this drug has helped you before, it will help you again. I tried Zoloft a few years ago and it did absolutely nothing. I didn't even have side effects. At $3 a piece, they should do something.
