I must tell you I am severely depressed, even near suicide, so I need to intervene. I live away from my family, so I have maybe one person here in the city I live in close enough to me to tell about this and help me monitor. Some people think I could be borderline, but I don't get angry really or see things in black and white. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. I cry a lot. I'm prone to panic attacks. I have a lot of medical knowledge so it's ok if ppl want to tell me things in those terms...i've learned a lot about the decrease in sensitivity your receptor can have if you take meds and also the withdrawls, so i'm scared out of my mind to begin meds. Also, my parents don't believe in meds so I have to do this on my own. I'm also prone to substance addiction and I like to take meds in bunches so thats why someone has to monitor how many I can have at once. I have taken effexor xr for a brief time i didn't like it at all. I'm thinking maybe i should just take an SSRI. I don't know. I had the side effects of no sex drive, no ability to reach orgasm, i felt sort of happy for no reason, stomach aches (probably the worst symptom) so I got off it right away. you might get the same insight as GPs and psychiatrists may give-- it's a very handy diagnosis and treatment book for professionals, but readable by the general public. If, in fact, you are borderline, Topirimate might help. I suggest this because I'm borderline and it helped me. But, as always, seek actual medical adivice from a Psychiatrist or whomever and not just some random dude on the net (me) :) What med would you guys recommend and why? I know I should ask a psychiatrist but I think all of mine have been poor and never cared what I wanted to go on, just put me on what they liked to prescribe.
